When: March 7-9 Why: To strengthen morale “by the congenial association of spiritual kin, among the best things that life has to offer.” Special Guest: Hollister Knowlton, a biologist by training who has worked as a teacher, museum educator, environmental activist, transportation policy analyst, and communications professional. Hollister was a Quaker delegate to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg South Africa in 2002, and traveled to Gaviotas, a sustainable community in Colombia, which has been called "a village to reinvent the world." She is active with PYM's Earthcare Working Group and with the national group, Quaker Earthcare Witness. If interested in attending some park activities on Saturday, you may want to consider "Leave No Trace" steward on March 8 starting at 1:p.m. in the Park Center. The worshop is free to the public with park admission. To register for the workshop, call: 864-244-5565.
Hike: Take a nature walk through Paris Mountain State Park on March 8 from 2-3:30p.m. and learn to identity deciduous trees in winter. The program costs $5.00. It begins at the Park Center. Registration is required. To register, call the office at : 864-244-5565 or e-mail:

For those who may not wish cabin facilities, there are two motels in Travelers Rest nearby:
Passes - Persons staying over at the lodge for the
weekend will be given a pass for the whole time. Those coming only for the
days will need a new pass each day. The camp closes at 6:00, and we will
be given a code to use for people who may come in or have to leave after that
time.
There are accommodations for 42 persons and no more are allowed. This
consists of 10 cabins with 4 bunk beds each and a room for two in the
lodge. One cabin and the lodge are on a level with the parking area and
would be accessible for handicapped. Guests must bring their own linens,
towels, etc. There is one central unisex bath area and bath and
shower facilities in the lodge.
