Alba Maria Cuesta Leading Meeting Program PDF Print E-mail

Alba Maria Cuesta Arias, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Internally Displaced Afro-Colombians (AFRODES), will lead the program at the Columbia Friends Meeting on October 14th during the program time (approx 11:30 - 1:00).

Alba Maria is an Afro-Colombian woman from the Chocó region of Colombia who herself has been displaced by the violence, along with her six children. Since being forced to flee from Río Sucio to Quibdó in 1996, Alba Maria has assisted other internally displaced families arriving in Quibdó. Amongst other activities, she was part of the occupation of a soccer stadium by internally displaced persons (IDPs) there to increase the visibility of the situation of IDPs and demand assistance from the Colombian government.

The meeting for worship for the purpose of business, usually held on the second first day, will be held the first first day of October instead (October 7th).
